Laut dem heute vom Welternährungsprogramm der Vereinten Nationen (WFP) veröffentlichten Bericht „State of School-Feeding Worldwide“ erhalten weltweit fast 420 Millionen Kinder eine Schulmahlzeit.
Die Sudan-Landesvertreterinnen und Vertreter von UNHCR, UNICEF und WFP fordern bei einem Besuch in Berlin höhere internationale Aufmerksamkeit für die komplexe Krise. Die eskalierende Gewalt macht humanitäre Hilfe in vielen Landesteilen unmöglich.
Die Ergebnisse der neuen sogenannten „Integrated Food Security Phase Classification“ (IPC) – im Rahmen derer Hunger gemessen und in 5 Phasen eingeteilt wird – zeigen für den Jemen erschreckendes: Zum ersten Mal seit zwei Jahren gleicht die Situation in einigen Gebieten einer Hungersnot (IPC-Phase 5).
Etwa 1,1 Millionen Kinder erhalten jeden Tag nährstoffreiche Mahlzeiten im Rahmen von Haitis Nationalem Schulspeisungsprogramm, das sich über 3000 Schulen im ganzen Land erstreckt.
In der Ukraine ist es das Ausmaß der Dinge, das einen am meisten beeindruckt - das Ausmaß der Herausforderung, der Bedrohung, des Landes selbst.
“Wir sind jeden Monat tagelang unterwegs”, sagt Matthew Hollingworth, Landesdirektor in der Ukraine. “Und das meine ich wörtlich - tagelang auf Reisen, auf der Straße.
"Wir haben es mit einem Feuerring zu tun, der die Erde von der Sahelzone über den Südsudan, Jemen und Afghanistan bis nach Haiti und Mittelamerika umkreist", sagte Beasley während einer Veranstaltung auf der Münchner Sicherheitskonferenz.
