Während in Somalia eine Hungersnot droht sind eine halbe Million Menschen in Kenia nur noch einen Schritt von einer Hungerkatastrophe entfernt. In Äthiopien liegt die Mangelernährungsrate weit über dem Notfallgrenzwert.
Die globale Ernährungskrise ist das Resultat mehrerer konkurrierender Krisen - verursacht durch Klimaschocks, Konflikte und wirtschaftlichen Druck -, welche die Zahl der Hungernden in der Welt allein in den ersten Monaten des Jahres 2022 von 282 Millionen auf 345 Millionen ansteigen ließen.
Nach sieben Wochen heftiger Bombardements waren 1,8 Millionen Menschen im Gazastreifen – rund 80% der Bevölkerung – auf der Flucht, gefangen und mit akutem Hunger konfrontiert. Dann kam endlich eine einwöchige humanitäre Pause.
ROM - Die Zahl der Menschen, die weltweit an akutem Hunger leiden, wird voraussichtlich aufgrund der sich zuspitzenden Hungerkrise in 19 „Hunger Hotspots“ weiter rapide steigen.
