Dank WFP-Schulmahlzeiten können Kinder auch während Katastrophen und längeren Krisen zur Schule gehen. Das gibt ihnen ein Gefühl der Stabilität und stellt sicher, dass nicht eine ganze Generation die Bildung verpasst.
„Die Syrer haben im Laufe der letzten sieben Konfliktjahre unsägliches Leid erfahren. WFP arbeitet jeden Tag daran, den bedürftigsten Familien zu helfen, Nahrung auf den Tisch zu bringen. Unsere Arbeit ist die Grundlage, um Frieden zu schaffen", sagte David Beasley, WFP-Exekutivdirektor.
Laut dem heute vom Welternährungsprogramm der Vereinten Nationen (WFP) veröffentlichten Bericht „State of School-Feeding Worldwide“ erhalten weltweit fast 420 Millionen Kinder eine Schulmahlzeit.
Zehn Jahre nach seiner Unabhängigkeit erlebt der Südsudan seine schlimmste humanitäre Krise: 7,2 Millionen Menschen – 60 Prozent der Bevölkerung – sind von akutem Hunger betroffen, 1,4 Millionen Kinder unter fünf Jahren und eine halbe Million schwangere und stillende Frauen leiden an akuter Mangelernährung.
Mit den deutschen Mitteln werden mehr als 150.000 gefährdete Menschen in den am st
