Wenn man heute Morgen in der schönen Stadt Rom aufwacht, ist es schwer vorstellbar, dass diese Stadt um 400 n. Chr. eine massive Hungersnot erlebte, die am Ende fast 90 % der Bevölkerung tötete. Studierende der Geschichte verbinden mit diesem alten Datum etwas anderes: den Beginn des Untergangs des Römischen Reiches. Hat nun die Hungersnot den Untergang verursacht?

Drei Wochen lang nannte Zarah Modu ein höhlenartiges Zelt ihr Zuhause. Das Zelt dient als Aufnahmezentrum für Vertriebene, die in der Stadt Monguno ankommen. Es gibt keine Privatsphäre. Männer, Frauen und Kinder schlafen nebeneinander im selben Raum, was der Kultur in dieser Region Nigerias völlig fremd ist.
