Diese neueste Analyse zur Ernährungssicherheit für Gaza umfasst Daten des UN-Welternährungsprogramms (WFP), anderer UN-Agenturen und nichtstaatlicher Organisationen. Sie bestätigt, dass die gesamte Bevölkerung von Gaza - etwa 2,2 Millionen Menschen – akuten Hunger auf Krisenniveau oder schlimmer leidet.
Die Ernennung erfolgte durch den Generalsekretär der Vereinten Nationen, António Guterres, und den Generaldirektor der Ernährungs- und Landwirtschaftsorganisation der Vereinten Nationen (FAO), QU Dongyu, nach Beratungen mit dem WFP-Exekutivrat auf einer Sondersitzung in der WFP-Zentrale in Rom.

Das Welternährungsprogramm der Vereinten Nationen (WFP) hat die erste Lieferung von Ernährungshilfe nach Libyen geschickt. Dort haben Tausende Menschen infolge der verheerenden Überschwemmungen ihr Leben verloren. Mehr als 10.000 Menschen sind verletzt oder werden vermisst.
In den nächsten Tagen plant WFP mehr als 5.000 Familien zu erreichen.
