Zum Glück hat die Welt, seit wir im April darüber gesprochen haben, wirklich zugehört. Die Geber, die führenden Köpfe in der ganzen Welt haben reagiert, sie haben gehandelt.
Das UN World Food Programme (WFP) hat in kürzester Zeit einen Nahrungsmitttel-Nothilfeeinsatz gestartet, mehr als 180 Mitarbeiter*innen eingesetzt und die Verteilung von Nahrungsmitteln erhöht, um 1,4 Millionen Menschen zu erreichen. Jedoch ist dies kaum die Hälfte derer, die wir erreichen sollten.
Gerade jetzt, wo die Nachfrage nach diesen Diensten ihren Höhepunkt erreicht, könnte das logistische Rückgrat der Coronahilfe jedoch noch vor Ende Juli zum Stillstand kommen: Wenn nicht erhebliche Finanzierungslücken geschlossen werden, steht die Transportflotte von WFP künftig still.
Das UN World Food Programme (WFP) wird von einem Exekutivrat geführt, der aus 36 Mitgliedstaaten besteht, WFP in der Strategiefindung unterstützt und WFP-Programme kontrolliert.
„Das Zeitfenster, in dem medizinische und humanitäre Ausrüstung noch rechtzeitig nach Afrika gebracht werden kann, um die Pandemie noch einzudämmen, schließt sich schnell“, sagte Amer Daoudi, Direktor der COVID-19-Hilfe von WFP.
Die SDGs lösen die Milleniumsziele (MDGs) ab dem Jahr 2016 ab. Sie sind im Gegensatz zu den MDGs von zwei Grundgedanken geleitet:
Ganzheitlichkeit: Im Fokus der SDGs steht die Idee, die Welt ganzheitlich zu betrachten und nicht wie bei den MDGs in Industrienationen und Entwicklungsländer einzuteilen.
Der Besuch unterstreicht die beträchtlichen Investitionen der Regierungen Frankreichs und Deutschlands in das Land sowie ihre fortlaufende Partnerschaft mit der Regierung der Demokratischen Volksrepublik Laos und dem WFP. Diese Partnerschaft konzentriert sich insbesondere auf die Stärkung der Rolle der Frau angesichts der sich verschlechternden Ernährungssituation.
