Regierungen sind die wichtigsten Partner des UN World Food Programme (WFP). In jeder Phase der Programmplanung arbeitet WFP mit nationalen und lokalen Behörden zusammen.
Die Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), der United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), das UN World Food Programme (WFP), die World Health Organization (WHO) und Partner veröffentlichten heute neue Zahlen aus dem jüngsten Bericht zur Integrierten Klassifizierung der akuten Mangelernährung (Integrated Food Security Phase Classification, IPC).
Die deutschen Mittel werden zur WFP-Nothilfe in Tigray beitragen, die bis zu 2,1 Millionen Menschen mit dringend benötigter Nahrungs- und Ernährungshilfe erreichen will.
In den vergangenen Wochen war der Zugang zum Gazastreifen mit Ausnahme des Grenzübergangs Rafah praktisch versperrt. Die Hilfslieferungen nach Gaza haben zwar stetig zugenommen, reichen aber bei weitem nicht aus, um den exponentiell wachsenden Bedarf zu decken.

Emissionssenkungen zur Eindämmung des globalen Temperaturanstiegs sind von entscheidender Bedeutung, aber wir können nicht warten, bis diese umgesetzt werden. Die Menschen, die schon jetzt am meisten von der Krise betroffen sind, brauchen dringend Unterstützung bei der Anpassung an die Auswirkungen.
Im Norden des Gazastreifens droht innerhalb der nächsten sechs Wochen eine Hungersnot. Kinder sterben bereits an Hunger. Wenn eine Hungersnot ausgerufen wird, bedeutet das, dass zu viele Menschen bereits an Hunger gestorben sind.
In der Demokratischen Republik Kongo (DRK) verschärfen sich Konflikt und Hunger gegenseitig. Unsicherheit, die sich über mehrere Provinzen erstreckt, ist die Hauptursache für die Vertreibung der Bevölkerung. Dies führt häufig zu Hunger, der in der Demokratischen Republik Kongo weiter wächst: 27 Millionen Menschen sind von akutem Hunger betroffen.
„Wir sind außerordentlich dankbar für die großzügigen Beiträge aus Deutschland und Österreich“, betonte Herr Andrea Bagnoli, Repräsentant und Landesdirektor von WFP. „Diese finanzielle Unterstützung hat eine drohende Unterbrechung der Hilfe aufgrund einer Finanzierungslücke abgewendet.
Zehn Jahre nach seiner Unabhängigkeit erlebt der Südsudan seine schlimmste humanitäre Krise: 7,2 Millionen Menschen – 60 Prozent der Bevölkerung – sind von akutem Hunger betroffen, 1,4 Millionen Kinder unter fünf Jahren und eine halbe Million schwangere und stillende Frauen leiden an akuter Mangelernährung.
