Angriffe auf Zivilisten und Infrastruktur sowie Konflikte zwischen staatlichen und nichtstaatlichen bewaffneten Gruppen haben zu massiver Vertreibung in Burkina Faso, Mali und Niger geführt.
Liechtenstein ist seit vielen Jahren ein verlässlicher Partner des UN World Food Programme (WFP). Nach Klimakatastrophen zählt das Land oft zu den Gebern, die am schnellsten Hilfe bereitstellen. Gleichzeitig leistet Liechtenstein kontinuierlich wichtige Unterstützung für vergessene und unterfinanzierte Krisen.
Das Berliner Büro des UN World Food Programme (WFP) wurde Ende 2004 mit dem Ziel gegründet, die Zusammenarbeit mit den Regierungen in Deutschland, Österreich und Liechtenstein auszubauen und die Öffentlichkeit verstärkt auf das Thema Hunger aufmerksam zu machen.
