Diese Zuwendung erfolgt zusätzlich zu den im April 2020 erhaltenen Mitteln in Höhe von einer Million Euro. Sie wird Geflüchteten aus Afghanistan und dem Irak zugute kommen, die in Siedlungen im Iran leben.

Konflikte, Klimaschocks, die anhaltenden Auswirkungen von COVID-19 und steigende Lebenshaltungskosten führen dazu, dass immer mehr Kinder akut unterernährt sind. Gleichzeitig sind wichtige Gesundheits-, Ernährungs- und andere lebensrettende Dienste immer schwerer zugänglich. Derzeit leiden mehr als 30 Millionen Kinder in den fünfzehn am stärksten betroffenen Ländern an akuter Unterernährung.

1. Aller Anfang ist lokal 💡
Das Feld von Laika James war von sogenannten Herbst-Heerwürmern befallen. Das gefräßige Insekt bedroht wieder und wieder die Ernte von Millionen afrikanischen Bauern.
Dank der deutschen Gelder kann WFP den Bedürftigen eine monatliche Notration bereitstellen, die Getreide (Reis, Gerste und Weizenmehl), Hülsenfrüchte, Pflanzenöl, Zucker sowie angereicherte Spezialnahrung enthält. Ein Teil der Zuwendung wird dafür verwendet, mehr als 40.000 Kinder in Schulen des Flüchtlingscamps zu versorgen.
Die Gelder ermöglichen Ernährungshilfe für zehntausende Menschen – darunter mangelernährte Kinder, schwangere und stillende Mütter – zu einem kritischen Zeitpunkt im Südsudan.
Das Land leidet noch erheblich unter den Folgen der schweren Dürre. Bis Jahresende sind deshalb 4,5 Millionen Menschen auf Hilfe angewiesen.
Rund 80 Prozent der Rohingya-Flüchtlinge sind noch immer vollständig auf humanitärer Hilfe angewiesen. Durch die neuen Mittel kann WFP weiterhin lebensrettende Ernährungshilfe in Form von Notrationen und elektronischen Gutscheinen leisten.
Notrationen bestehen aus Reis, Linsen und Öl. 2020 wird WFP diese Form der Ernährungshilfe allmählich einstellen und dafür Bargeldtransfers weiter ausbauen.
Mithilfe der innovativen App können Nutzer mit einem Klick auf ihrem Smartphone eine Mahlzeit teilen und ein Kind mit nur 40 Cent für einen Tag ernähren.
