Die SDGs lösen die Milleniumsziele (MDGs) ab dem Jahr 2016 ab. Sie sind im Gegensatz zu den MDGs von zwei Grundgedanken geleitet:
Ganzheitlichkeit: Im Fokus der SDGs steht die Idee, die Welt ganzheitlich zu betrachten und nicht wie bei den MDGs in Industrienationen und Entwicklungsländer einzuteilen.

Die Vergangenheit und die Gegenwart
Als Jugendlicher besuchte Ghassan die Wälder in Chouf im Libanon während eines langen Sommerurlaubs mit seiner Familie. Als wäre es gestern, erinnert er sich an Picknicks und Fußballspiele in den Wäldern, wo die Kinder Kiefernzapfen als Torpfosten aufhäuften.

Am Standort München bringt der Accelerator WFP-Mitarbeiter mit Experten und Unternehmern der Privatwirtschaft und Zivilgesellschaft aus aller Welt zusammen, um Lösungsansätze zu verfeinern, Prototypen zu entwickeln und zu testen und die Verbreitung von erfolgreichen Ideen zu beschleunigen.
Zugleich konnte ein Flugzeug mit fast 10 Tonnen sogenannten Energiekeksen in Tacloban heute landen, am morgigen Donnerstag werden weitere 25 Tonnen ankommen.
In der vergangenen Woche überquerten zwei Hilfskonvois die Grenze von Tschad nach Darfur und brachten Ernährungshilfe für rund 250.000 Menschen, die in Nord-, West- und Zentraldarfur akut Hunger leiden.
